About HDfire OS & Y Switches

HDfire OS & Y (Outside Screw and Yoke) Supervisory Switches are safety devices used in fire protection systems to monitor the position of gate valves. They consist of a switch assembly mounted on the valve’s yoke and connected to the valve stem. When the valve is fully open or closed, the switch is activated, signaling the valve’s position to the fire alarm control panel. If the valve’s position changes unexpectedly, indicating potential tampering or malfunction, the supervisory switch triggers an alarm, alerting operators to investigate and take appropriate action. OS & Y supervisory switches ensure the integrity and reliability of fire protection systems, enhancing safety and compliance.
  • The OSYSU is used to monitor the open position of an OS&Y (outside screw and yoke) type gate valve
  • This device is available in two models; the OSYSU-1, containing one set of SPDT (Form C) contacts and the OSYSU-2, containing two sets of SPDT (Form C) contacts
  • These switches mount conveniently to most OS&Y valves ranging in size from 2″ to 12″ (50mm to 300mm)
  • Make sure the groove in the valve stem is at least as wide as the OSYSU roller or trip rod and is at least 1/2″ deep. If not, use a 3/8″ round file on the groove
  • UL Listed & FM Approved
